“S-LPs in DD, an interest group of Speech-Language Pathologists (S-LPs) working in the developmental sector, identified a perceived gap in resources addressing the provision of S-LP services for people with intellectual disabilities. Review of this group’s graduate school preparation and exploration of practice guidelines on the topic, confirmed there is a need for Canadian resources to guide S-LPs in evidence-based practice. It should be made clear that this paper does not contain official guidelines. The intent rather, is to act as a resource for building capacity amongst S-LPs who may be supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.”
