Fun changes behaviour!

Taking something that is good for your overall social, physical, emotional and mental well being and turning it into something engaging and fun, is therapeutic recreation (or recreation therapy). Those affected by cognitive impairments (memory, or other mental health), physical challenges or disabilities and their loved ones, may not always be able to identify how to turn their needs into effective engagement. Recreational Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation restores, re-mediates and rehabilitates a person’s level of functioning and independence in life activities, to promote health and wellness as well as reduce or eliminate the activity limitations and restrictions to participation in life situations caused by an illness or disabling condition. While standard therapies tend to treat illness, recreation therapy can aid to develop and maintain great well being and quality of life.
